I put Bin Essada at Aargau since it’s unlikely to be attacked. Building any Tech there is extremely risky unfortunately. The Maw will lose you money but when you have a mission to take Bevel there, you will want all the defenses you can have. You may try to turtle up on Kessel and the Maw. If you go with outpost, you will lose money. If you go for governor’s palace (it has good income) it will need a few troops on the ground to discourage raids. I put the frigate shipyard with advanced fighters, advanced factory, and automated factory there to maximize discounts. Rothana is a major production planet too, almost as good as Kuat. Kamino is the only planet to give you a discount on infantry (Anaxes gives a discount on the building so it’s a good early game substitute). It’s cheaper to build ISD at Kuat and upgrade it at Rendili than to build it at Rendili.
Best way to get upgraded Victory I and II. Capital shipyard with advanced fighter extension should be built at Rendili. I usually go for specialized factory, heavy factory, imperial shipyard, and capital shipyard there. Kuat is one of your main production planets. Then you can grab Bespin, Ord Ibanna, and Zhar for big profit. Do The Hunt series of quests to follow the story of ESB.
I like to focus early game on the southwest of the galaxy. I usually give Veers a vehicle heavy army. That gives you 2 fleets and 2 armies lead by major heroes that can’t die. Since Vader can lead a fleet and army, I pair Veers up with Thrawn when you unlock him. Vader is a good admiral and the best general you have. If you are cautious and choose when to fight and run, you can capture an entire planet with him alone. As long as you don’t charge him into massively overwhelming numbers of enemies. Vader is nearly unstoppable in the ground.
